As a designer, I tend to change my mind A LOT!! And as my house renovation/addition has continued for longer than I expected, it has given me too much time to plan Lola's room :). Now, instead of the mermaid theme I was going to use - I have switched up everything and am loving this fashion vibe. Mermaids are completely adorable, but I think this new mood board fits better with Miss Lola's sassy, funny and sweet personality.
I found this awesome print to use in the room, by an artist coincidentally named Lola as well! It will be large over her dresser and make such a bold, feminine statement. The colors in the print set the tone for the rest of the room. I am still using the floral pattern I designed for the drapes, but just altered the colors. They will take up almost an entire wall in the room, so I wanted something really dramatic. I will also still be using my childhood dresser. It is so girly and will look adorable painted in soft lilac.
The ceiling will also be lilac, with cream walls and gold-painted letters of her name hanging over her bed. A super-soft rug and the ultimate frilly duvet will complete the look. The accessories will keep things whimsical - including playful pillows, adorable toy storage, a children's book display, lots of dolls and stuffed animals, a floral wall display and some additional artwork.
I can't wait to see it all come together. Since she will be nearing two when it is finally complete, I hope to give her the ultimate "big girl's room" to grow with her for years.
